Pet Vaccinations and Prevention

Prevention is the best medicine! Just like children, dogs and cats need vaccinations to ward off dangerous diseases.

Protection with vaccines should begin early when they are puppies and kittens, and then be supplemented with boosters as they become adults.

Palo Verde Pet Clinic believes preventive medicine is the best way to keep a pet healthy and happy while also limiting the lifetime cost of care.

Our goal is to work with pet owners to develop the best wellness plan for their companion animal, thus positively impacting the length and quality of their pet’s life.

Lifelong prevention starts here. Schedule an appointment at our Yuma vet clinic today!

What vaccinations does my pet need?

When you visit Palo Verde Pet Clinic, your veterinarian will determine if your cat or dog is healthy enough to receive vaccinations and make recommendations based on your pet’s individual needs.

Regardless of whether your pet is an indoor loving cat or any outdoor loving dog, we recommend starting vaccinations at 6-8 weeks of age and following up with regular boosters. Below are the vaccinations we recommend for your pet.

Dog vaccinations help prevent:

  • CANINE DISTEMPER

  • PARVOVIRUS

  • BORDETELLA (KENNEL COUGH)

  • CANINE PARAINFLUENZA

  • RATTLESNAKE

Cat vaccinations help prevent:

  • FELINE DISTEMPER

  • FELINE LEUKEMIA (FELV)

  • RESPIRATORY DISEASES

  • RABIES

Keep in mind, there are vaccines that are specifically recommended for dogs and cats living in or visiting Arizona.

Vaccinations for dogs and cats

Most puppies and kittens are not born with immunity to diseases. They receive immunity from their mother during the first few days of life. This immunity is designed to last only long enough for the young animals to start making their own antibodies.

Vaccines help protect your dog or cat from common diseases, which is a critical part of caring for your pet.

Parasite Prevention

Mosquitoes, fleas, and ticks all carry diseases that can be easily spread to your dog or cat and cause devastating health issues. With the help of our caring and experienced veterinary staff, it’s easy to stay up-to-date on your pet’s vaccines and preventative medication.

We believe preventive medicine is the best way to keep a pet healthy and happy while limiting the lifetime cost of care.

Help Protect Your Pet

Are you interested in Pet Insurance as a part of your pet’s wellness plan?

Pet insurance helps you pay for unexpected pet care bills for treatments due to injuries and illnesses.

This means you won’t ever have to compromise on the excellent care your pet deserves so we advise having pet insurance for every pet.

At Palo Verde Pet Clinic, we highly recommend Petplan pet insurance. Their mission is to ensure happier, healthier lives for pets, and peace of mind for their people.

We also understand that finding the right veterinarian is important for your pet and your wallet.
